Ümmühan Tunçtürk, erkek egemen sanat tarihini epeyce meşgul etmiş “doğulu kadın” imgesine kendine has bir yorum getiriyor. Akrilik tuvallerinde batı resminden ödünç aldığı kompozisyonlara doğuya dair karakter, eylem ve ilişkileri yerleştiren sanatçı; canlı renk ve desenlerle kadınların iç dünyasının çeşitliliğini gösteriyor. Tunçtürk’ün resimlerinde Picasso’nun sanat tarihini değiştiren Avignonlu Kızlar’ı, Titian’dan Goya’ya uzanan nü kadınlar gibi referanslar izlenebiliyor.

Ümmühan Tunçtürk gives a unique interpretation to the image of the “eastern woman” who has preoccupied the male-dominated art history. The artist, who places the characters, actions and relationships of the east in the compositions borrowed from western painting in her acrylic canvases, shows the diversity of women’s inner world with vivid colors and patterns. Tunçtürk’s paintings contain references ranging from Picasso’s Girls of Avignon, which changed the history of art, to nude women from Titian to Goya.
