Pandemi döneminde kendine alternatif bir yaşam alanı yaratma isteği, Petek’i minyatürü odağına alan, kendine has bir görsel dile yönlendiriyor. Mimarinin sinema, edebiyat ve doğa ile iç içe geçtiği eserlerinde hem kişisel hem de toplumsal tarihten detayları büyülü gerçekçi bir anlatımla aktarıyor.

Maide Aybala Petek, who produces works in the fields of miniature, watercolor and tile, likes to reconstruct the works of expressionist painters by using the miniature art of Eastern culture and to give them a new identity.

The desire to create an alternative living space for herself during the lockdown directed Petek to a unique visual language that focuses on miniature. In her works, where architecture is intertwined with cinema, literature and nature, she conveys the details of both personal and social history with a magical realistic narrative.
